Students will receive a homework packet each Monday. It will be due on Fridays. On short weeks, there may not be a homework packet that goes home. Students are allowed to turn in their homework packet on Thursday to receive extra credit points. However, their work needs to be neat, complete, and accurate.
The homework packet will contain work from the following areas: phonics, spelling, math, science, and social studies. All areas will not be covered each week. However, spelling, phonics and math will always be part of the homework. In addition to the homework packet, students will be required to read a minimum of 20 minutes per night. This should be recorded in their reading log. These will be turned in on Friday's as well and need to be signed by a parent. On Friday mornings, we will have a weekly spelling test. There will be 10-14 spelling words plus 5 word wall words on each test. There will be a practice spelling test in the homework packet that should be turned in and signed by a parent as well. As we finish units in Math, Science, and Social Studies, there will be tests in these areas as well. There will always be a study guide given at least 2 days in advance of any test. |
